Bacteria from water source contamination or old pipes.
Microplastics commonly find in tap water due to plastic pollution.
Bacteria
Bacteria in tap water often come from source contamination or issues with the pipes. Commonbacteria include E. coli, Salmonella, and Legionella. They can cause gastrointestinal illnesses such asdiarrhea, vomiting, and fever. Legionella can also lead to Legionnaires' disease, a severe type of pneumonia.
Microplastics
Microplastics are small particles formed from the breakdown of plastics and are often found in tapwater. While their health impact is not fully understood, studies suggest they may carry harmfulchemicals or pollutants, potentially affecting the immune system and digestive system andincreasing the risk of endocrine disruption with long-term exposure.
